LENTE Now

Buoyed by the positive response to LENTE by civil society, the legal profession, and the public in general, LENTE has decided to formally institutionalize and continue the work that it has started.  What are LENTE's present Plans?
To Prepare for the 2010 National Elections:
LENTE's presence in the upcoming national elections is an answer to the dire need for civil society groups that can undertake programs on voter's education and monitor the process of voting, counting, canvassing and reporting of votes. Thus, LENTE plans to:

Organize its current institutional framework through the maintenance and strengthening of its existing membership;

Gather more volunteers by establishing LENTE chapters nationwide through various networking efforts, such as the holding of meetings with Deans of law schools, law students and undergraduate university students across the country;

Undergo continuous research on election laws and procedures, and be updated on various developments in Philippine elections;

Undertake law reform and advocacy efforts; specifically on the pieces of legislation concerning Automation, the Party List System Law and Voters’ Registration;

Conduct education and training seminars for its volunteers;

Utilize the media as part of its public visibility and information efforts and voters’ education campaigns;

Provide legal services in partnership and collaboration with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and various lawyers groups.
